Homecoming and Family Weekend 2009: October 9-11
After a few early showers early on Ocotber 10th, the skies cleared and the Eastern community was awarded a beautiful day for Homecoming 2009. As the rain faded, more and more alumni and families began to populate Eastern’s campus to enjoy the day’s festivities and surprises. The alumni were joined by none other than the Eastern Eagle himself for the annual Alumni Photo. At the Alumni Luncheon, those in attendance were treated to delicious food, catered by Sodexo, and a video presentation that echoed this year’s theme, Generations of Pride: Linking Past, Present, and Future, which was put together by Jeremy Gudgeon '03, co-chair of the Alumni Council. The 2009 Alumnus of the Year, Col. Doug Mastriano, was honored. He gave a moving speech which centered on the many instances when he felt God’s protective hand over himself and his regiment in battle and eloquently drove home the message of the power of prayer and of God’s greatness. The 2009 Lamplight Society inductees, Chancellor Christopher Hall, and Derek Ritchie ‘89 MBA ‘07 were also honored. After the luncheon, alumni were invited to Tailgating “On the Hill”, with a perfect view of the soccer game. The day ended with a 4-3 win in overtime for the men’s soccer team against DeSales and the cheers of joy could be heard across the campus.
Alumni-Employee Lunch: September 22, 2009

| Each fall, the Alumni Office recognizes and extends appreciation to those alums who have returned to work at Eastern. At the Alumni-Employee lunch, all Eastern alumni-employees are celebrated! It's a great opportunity for all the Alumni-Employees to meet each other and share their common experience of graduating from, and now working at, Eastern. This year, John Levis MBA '06 and Senior Admissions Counselor, spoke about the amazing impact that the Eastern community has had on his life. The lunch culminated with a group photo outside in front of Gough Hall. |
Creation Festival: June 24-27, 2009
In 2009 Eastern co-sponored the Creation Festival. As such, they were given a larger booth and were able to make announcements from the stage and present videos on the "Jumbotron". Shane Claiborne '97 appeared in one video asking the concert-goers to donate school supplies for students in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. At the booth, Laura Manger '98 joined the Admissions team to greet alumni and current students. The team gave away Eastern t-shirts - for a price! Each prospective student had to fill out a card to receive more information about the school and then preform a silly "dare" like finding three guys named Tom. It certainly made for a memorable week for the Creation attendees as well as the Eastern team. |

Class of 1959 - 50th Reunion: May 9 & 10, 2009

| May 9 and 10, 2009 were filled with celebration as the class of 1959 returned to campus for their 50th Reunion. On Friday, May 9, the class was welcomed by Dr. David Black before hopping into golf carts for a tour of the campus. After that, it was off to dinner at the General Warren Inne where the alums had a great time reminiscing. The next morning, they gathered together for a breakfast in the old Dining Hall in Walton before leading the Class of 2009 in the Commencement processional. The class' time together ended with a lunch hosted by Dr. Black. The friendships and memories that were shared will not soon be forgotten! |
